Allison and the Adoration of the Magi
I love this quote by Dale Allison in his ICC Commentary on Matthew on the Adoration of the Magi by Leonardo Da Vinci.
“The world into which the Messiah comes in is in chaos and decay; things need to be righted. When Jesus is born, Jerusalem, instead of being overjoyed is troubling at the news. And there is upon Israel’s throne a wicked and illegitimate ruler. And innocent blood is about to be shed” (254).
